Carved from a single slab of mahogany

Heirloom jewelry boxes hollowed from solid stock rather than assembled from panels — engraved with her name, her initials, or the word that marks the occasion.

The difference

Most boxes are built. Ours are carved.

A conventional jewelry box is six flat pieces cut, mitered, glued and clamped — with joints that open as the seasons turn. Every Treasure Works box begins as one thick slab of genuine mahogany. The compartments are machined out of the solid. The lid is machined out of the solid. There is not a single glue joint in it to fail.

One piece in, one piece out

The interior wells are machined down into a single slab, so the walls, the floor and the corners are all the same continuous piece of wood. The lid is cut from the same board and carries the same grain across the top. What you are holding began its life as one thick plank of mahogany and never stopped being one.

  • Interior compartments machined from the solid
  • Lid carved from the same board, grain matched
  • No miters, no splines, no glue lines to open
  • Hand sanded and finished to a soft satin sheen

Her name, cut into the lid

Because the lid is one clean expanse of mahogany, there is room for a proper engraving — not a sticker, not a plate, but the wood itself cut away. A first name. A three-letter monogram. A single word that says what the day was: Bride, Grace, Always.

  • A first name, in flowing script
  • A classic three-letter monogram
  • A date, a phrase, or a single word
  • Engraving is included, never an upcharge

Genuine mahogany, chosen board by board

Mahogany has been the cabinetmaker’s wood for three hundred years for good reason: it is stable, it machines beautifully, and it deepens with age from warm red-brown to something close to firelight. Every slab is selected for figure before a single cut is made, so no two boxes carry the same grain.

  • Stable enough to hold its shape for generations
  • Color deepens and enriches with age
  • Every box a different figure — yours is the only one
A jewelry box should outlive the jewelry. Ours are built to be handed down twice.

04 Where they are photographed

On a weathered rock, above a harbor full of yachts

These boxes are not photographed in a light tent. They are carried down to the shore of Narragansett Bay and set on a flat, sea-worn rock, with the moored yachts of the harbor behind them. The stone is the right company for the wood, and the harbor is the right company for both.

Questions worth asking

Anything else, write to the shop — the person who answers is the person who makes the boxes.

What exactly do you mean by machined from a solid slab?

The compartments are cut down into one thick piece of mahogany, so the inside of the box is continuous wood rather than four walls glued to a floor. The lid is cut from the same board. There are no miters and no glue joints in the body of the box.

What can I have engraved on the lid?

A first name, a three-letter monogram, a date, or a single word such as Bride. Send the wording with your order and it is cut into the lid before the finish goes on.

What size is the box?

Set your dimensions here — outside size, interior well depth, and weight. Buyers of a premium piece look for this before they look at anything else.

How long until it ships?

Set your own lead time here. Because each box is engraved to order, tell buyers how many business days to expect and how it is packed.

How do I care for the finish?

Keep it out of direct sun and away from radiators, and wipe it with a dry soft cloth. A little furniture oil once a year will keep the mahogany deep and even.
